چکیده

This paper studies distributed choice of retransmission probabilities in slotted ALOHA. Both the cooperative team problem as well as the noncooperative game problem are considered. Unlike some previous work, we assume that mobiles do not know the number of backlogged packets at other nodes. A Markov chain analysis is used to obtain optimal and equilibrium retransmission probabilities and throughput. We then investigate the impact of adding retransmission costs (which may represent the disutility for power consumption) on the equilibrium and show how this pricing can be used to make the equilibrium throughput coincide with the optimal team throughput. 2004 Elsevier B.V. Proposed ST-Slotted-CS-ALOHA Protocol for Time Saving and Collision Avoidance

Time Saving and energy consumption has become a vital issue that attracts the attention of researchers in Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSNs) fields. According to that, there is a strong need to improve MAC protocols performance in UWSNs, particularly enhancing the effectiveness of ALOHA Protocol. In this paper, a time-saving Aloha protocol with slotted carrier sense proposed which we c...

Analysis of Performance Parameters in Wireless Networks by using Game Theory for the non Cooperative Slotted Aloha Enhanced by ZigZag Decoding Mechanism

In wireless communication networks, when the workload increases, sources become more aggressive at the equilibrium in the game setting in comparison with the team problem by using slotted Aloha mechanism. Consequently, more packets are in collision and are lost. To reduce these phenomena and to enhance the performance of the networks, we propose to combine ZigZag decoding approach with non coop...

Stability of Multipacket Slotted Aloha with Selfish Users and Perfect Information

Aloha is perhaps the simplest and most-studied medium access control protocol in existence. Only in the recent past, however, have researchers begun to study the performance of Aloha in the presence of selfish users. In this paper, we present a game-theoretic model of multipacket slotted Aloha with perfect information. We show that this model must have an equilibrium and we characterize this eq...
